Karamoja Design uses natural materials like wooden beads and seeds mixed with the colourful beads of the Karamoja culture.
The strong point of this union is that the people of Karamojaland have a natural and creative sense of design which can be appriciated both by the city dwellers of Kampala and the Tourists visiting Uganda.
Making Jewellery in Karamojaland - Lokopo -
We have been several times to Lokopo sub county in Karamojaland to encourage them to make jewellery instead of leaving to the city. Lokopo is particularly bad hit by the troubles in Karamoja. There will be another scheduelled visit in September 2007, hopefully other crafts can be found which can be a source of income for this impoverished area.

A New Craft which is being revived, Light Wigs made from the local material of Sisel. Sisel grow abundantly in Karamojaland and is used for housing and ropes for cattle.
