Disappearing Matriarchal Cultures of the World ... by Simon & Katerina

The Matriarchal Project is a joint program with Simon Bird and Katerina Karaskova. Their efforts hope to highlight the last societies on the planet that have naturally place women as equals, without them having to fight for their rights.

Katerina first became interested in Matriarchal cultures when she was working for WomanKind International in London.

- " I want to find a true Matriarchal society, where Women are stronger than men, it has to exist ? "

Simon's interest began when he arrived at Lugo Lake, after a 14 day hike from the Tibetan Plateau to Lower land China. Lugo Lake is home to the Mosuo culture, a society where Women keep possession over their sons - for life !

- " I am really quite sceptical about whether a true Matriarchal society exists, the Mosuo Culture did come close, it was actually quite scary. "
