Current & recent projects... Updated 12-05-2013
Katerina and I are presently in Kenya, in the small cold town of Molo, in the Southern Rift Valley. I am working on a small documentary about the Ogiek people of the Mao Forest. We are also continuing the Matriarchal project.
Matriarchal Project. 2006 - 2013
(Where women rule !) By Simon & Katerina
This is a project to highlight the last cultures on the planet that have naturally
placed women as equals or even leaders, without them having to fight for their rights.
Cultures include: Khasi, Garo, Minangkobau, Mosuo and Zapotec.

From my first encounter with the Karamojong people in Kampala, to the wilderness

Painting Slovakian
Gypsies. 2008
By Simon
On this second trip to see the Gypsies (Roma), I re-visit the villages from my first trip in 2006 to see what has changed. I find, however, little has changed, many settlements still have no electricity, running water or sanitation - it is like the '3rd World' within the European Union.
Read the article from my trip - Slovak Gypsies re-visited 2008.

Czech Panelák

The last standing big structures from the communist era,
By Simon
During my stay in Prague from winter through to summer, I sketch scenes of everyday life around the Paneláks. I am drawn to the minimalist grandure of the buildings, an echoe of the Communists grand plan for collectivist living, for cheapest price.
